Goals are great. Plans are essential. But we can be pretty much guaranteed life is going to take us in some crazy, unexpected directions. The biblical story of Christmas highlights this. Mary was a teenager, engaged to Joseph with her whole life ahead of her. God interrupted her plans with a huge opportunity and she responded in faith. If you missed last Sunday at Grace Hills, you can watch the message, When the Big Opportunity Comes Along, online here.
This coming Sunday is part two of Unexpected and we’re focusing on Joseph’s story. As a young guy in love with his sweet fiancee, he was making preparation to be a husband and form a new family and a future when Mary brought home the strangest news. There were several options for how Joseph could react, and the choice he made tells us a lot about what to do when God allows the unexpected to happen to us. Join us Sunday at the theater to hear more, and go like and share this Facebook post right now!
Here are a few other things to know this week:
- We’re collecting new and gently used hats, coats, and gloves for kids to be distributed through Grace Hill Elementary School the next two Sundays. More information.
- This coming Sunday is Newcomers’ Lunch at Dinks BBQ at 12:30. If you’re new around Grace Hills and want to hear our story, vision, and values, join us for lunch (it’s on us)! Kids can come along too. More information.
- We’re hosting a Student Ministry Christmas Party on Wednesday, December 17 at the Grace Hills office in Bentonville. Bring a dessert and a friend! More information.
- We’re also hosting a Parents’ Night Out on Friday, December 19 at our office. Finish your Christmas shopping and leave your kids in good hands. More information.
One more thing, every year about this time, we see a wave of generosity that has helped us prepare to enter the new year with strength. If Grace Hills is your church family, ask God how you should give at the end of this year. I you need to catch up or give an extra financial gift, feel free to give online or any of the next three Sundays. We’re asking God to help us make our biggest impact yet in Northwest Arkansas in 2015 and we believe He’s already planning to answer that prayer in a powerful way!
I’ll see you and your guests Sunday at the theater!
