Weekend Review!
This weekend Grace Hills sent a team to Honduras to love on some people for 10 days. It is a wonderful team of people and we cannot wait to hear their stories when they get back home! A lot of sacrifice goes into leaving your family for 10 days to go to a third world country, we might have some crazy dads/moms when they return. You never know what those kids will get away with while mom is gone. The truly amazing part about this whole trip is seeing children raise their hand and say “Can we pray for my dad he is in Honduras.” I am always amazed by the beauty of children’s prayers, I ask you to join with me in lifting up the team that is serving RIGHT NOW in Hondurus. I encourage you to take this opportunity to talk with your children about missions and what our team is doing in Hondurus.
In our preschool room this week we learned about Joseph and when he forgave his brothers! Josephs brothers sold him into slavery and sent him far, far away. Joseph, over time, got to become a helper to King Pharaoh, Joseph stored up lots of food to be prepared. When Josephs brothers needed food and came in search of food not expecting to find their brother, Joseph forgave them for everything they had done. God gave Joseph the power to forgive his brothers even though they really hurt him. We can be like Joseph and forgive others! We started learning a new memory verse this week:
I can do – thumbs into chest
all things – spread arms out to side
through Christ – point up
who gives me strength – flex muscles
Philippians 4:13 – hold up 4 fingers
I encourage you to practice this verse with your children this week! This week we also challenge you to talk about forgiveness in the context of Joseph and his story. I pray that this week your children may be learning and growing more and more in Christ!
In our KIDS zone this week we talked about sin and how it separates us from God. We reviewed the story of Adam and Eve and the original sin when they were banished from the garden, thankfully thats not the end of the story. God loves his people too much, sin separates us but thankfully Jesus is our answer. So what does this mean to us?
- God loves me and has a plan for me
- I need God, all the time
- God is the author of Salvation! He didn’t leave us to live in our sin, he sent his son!
The memory verse that we are learning together is:
This is how we know what real love is: Jesus gave his life for us. So we should give our lives for our brothers and sisters. 1 John 3:16
Sin is a huge topic and understanding our separating from God because of sin can be tricky. I hope that your children left with a refreshed attitude, thankful for what we have been given and the opportunity to truly live because of Jesus! This week I encourage you to thank God for sending his son Jesus in order to make a way for us to be saved! Thank you Lord for allowing us to have a relationship with you!
