Weekend Review!
This week was BABY dedication at Grace Hills, babies were everywhere! We had the privilege of dedicating 7 new babies. We are looking forward to having the privilege of watching these babies grow, learn, and build a relationship with Christ! We love babies at Grace Hills, and you will see this any given Sunday when you walk in and our nursery is overflowing with babies that we get to love on!
In our preschool room this week we learned about the story of JONAH! This is such a fun story to teach. The children get so excited learning about the “big fish” and Jonah. Jonah disobeyed God, and then after he was thrown into the water and he prayed to God for forgiveness. We know that God did forgive him just like God will forgive us when we ask. God promises to forgive us! What a huge promise that is that we can be thankful for, lets remember that this week! Our memory verse that we are practicing is:
“The Lord” – point up
“always keeps” – brings arms out, around, down
“His promises” – make a book with your hands
Psalm 145:13
Practice our verse with your kids this week! We will review it again next Sunday!
This week we want to focus on thanking God for loving and forgiving us during our prayer times. If you have not yet had the opportunity to serve in our preschool room then you should know that prayer time is the kids favorite activity. It is possibly the only time that all of them sit still at once, but they honestly do love it. We go around our circle and let each of them pray and it is the most beautiful thing. You really have to use your listening ears because some of them have very quiet prayers and others not so quiet. They always pray for their families and brothers and sisters, and often we pray for wild animals like bears.
In our KIDZ world, this week we talked about being fully charged up for God! We talked about what being fully charged means, and how when we are excited about things we want to share them with others. The kids shared with us there favorite hobbies, like when they learn a new song on the piano, they get excited and want to play it for others. We have some really talented kids one of them is learning to sew, some are cheerleaders, artist, and a few cooks. They all have talents and its easy to get excited about those things that we are good at. In order for us to be fully charged for God we need to grasp and understand a few things:
– Be able to explain what the Gospel is.
– Recognize that the Gospel has the power to save.
– Know that we should be sharing this good news!
We spent some time talking about these things Sunday in our small groups. Children shared about the first time they distinctly remember hearing the Gospel and what it means for our lives, and if this changed there lives and the way they live.
We also did several things to get excited and charged up about the Gospel and what it should mean for our lives. The favorite activity from Sunday was of course the race to find and eat the gummy worms that were hidden in a pie pan filled with whipped cream. We picked one child from each grade and they each got there own pie pan that had 6 gummy worms they had to find and eat. Yes they did go face first into the whipped cream, and not a single one of them hesitated! We had a lot of fun on Sunday, but at the end of the day we want our kids to understand why our lives should be different. This month our memory verse is:
“I am not ashamed of the Gospel, because it is the power of God for the salvation of everyone who believes.” Romans 1:16 (NIV)
This week we would love for you to review this verse with your children and to talk about what the Gospel means to us! How should we live differently because of the impact of the Gospel!
