Weekend Review
This week we started learning the Christmas story in all of our rooms! I love this time of year but even more then this time of year I love hearing a first graders stand up and tell the Christmas story to the group!
In preschool this week we started by learning the story of the Angle visiting Mary in Luke 1:26-38. We learned that Mary was going to have a baby and was going to name him Jesus. We are so thankful that ALL things are possible through God!
Our memory verse for the Christmas season is 1 John 4:14
God – point up
sent his Son – rock a baby with arms
to be the Savior – arms reach out wide
of the world – make circle with arms above head
1 John 4:14 – show 4 fingers
Practice our memory verse with your children this week and we will review it again next Sunday!
We also made snowflake crafts this week to remind us again that God can do anything. Every snowflake is different and individual and God makes them! God can do anything he can even make tons of tiny snowflakes fall from the sky. This week we are praying that our Grace Hills kids remember that God can do ANYTHING! Lets thank God for sending His Son and allowing us to have this wonderful season to celebrate Jesus birth!
In KIDS this week we began the Christmas story by reviewing the story and discussed how wise men still seek Jesus! We began learning a new memory verse this week, we encourage you to review this verse with your children.
For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Couselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. Isaiah 9:6
In honor of Christmas we made a star ornament to hang on the Christmas tree this year to remind us that wise men followed a star to seek Jesus! We hope that your kids left having learned a new part of the Christmas story! Some points that we focused on this week are as follows:
- We need to actively seek Jesus just like the wise men did! We can’t just wait around God tells us to knock, seek, open and we will find.
- We should never stop trying to learn more
- 3 wise men may not be correct! We know that 3 gifts were brought but we do not know how many wise men came there could have been more then 3!
Cinema 56 launched this week and it was an exciting week! If you have a child in the 5 or 6th grade we would love to have them join us! We spent time getting to know each other this week sense this is a new group for Grace Hills!
We also talked about how wise men still seek Jesus in this group. We know that our culture is different then what the wise men lived in. For us actively seeking Jesus doesn’t mean following a star through the night. This week I want to challenge you to spend some time discussing with your 5th and 6th graders how they are trying to seek Jesus. We challenge them to start this Christmas season off by getting involved in the Word of God, reading scripture, spending quiet time, doing a Bible study. If we draw near to Him then He will draw near to us!
It was a wonderful week to start our 56 ministry at Grace Hills! We are looking forward to seeing it grow and develop with us. Thank you to all of the volunteers who led this week as well as our set up and tear down crew. Church in a movie theater may be fun but it wouldn’t happen without lots of hands pitching in every Sunday morning to transform this movie theater into a church that we LOVE!
