Weekend Review!
This past Sunday was a FUN Sunday to say the least! Before church even started the children’s leaders had the privilege of getting balloon animals lessons from Brian and Melissa. We are so thankful that they just so happened to be balloon experts. It made our lesson so much better when we actually knew how to make some real balloon animals. It was fun because we spent the morning leading up to kids worship laughing and learning together as a team! We have been so blessed to have wonderful volunteers who are always up for any kind of adventure!
Soon after our balloon animal lesson, children started arriving and it was time to hide the balloons! In our preschool room this week, we are in a BLAST OFF space series and each week we blast off into space to learn about God’s promises to us! We were learning about Jacob’s dream in Geneses 28 and Psalm 121:8. We learned that Jacob traveled a long way and when he got tired he went to sleep on the GROUND we even think he used a stone for a pillow! Perhaps he even snored, we got the privilege of hearing how talented your kiddos are at pretend snoring. The important part of our lesson on Jacob’s dream is that throughout all of this, God was still watching over him! Just like today God is watching over us! God promises to watch over me and you! We know that this is true because we have been practicing and learning our memory verse that says:
” The Lord” – point up
“always keeps” – bring arms out, around, and down making a circle
“His promises” – make a book with your hands
Psalms 145:13
We would love for you to continue practicing this with your kids this week!
In our Kids Zone this week we talked about God sending the Holy Spirit to help us! Yes, we also did some fun and crazy things. We hope that every child left with an understanding that Jesus lives and sits at the right hand of the Father, and that the Holy Spirit is with us. The Holy Spirit is our helper who lives with us everyday and helps us to live fruitful lives that God intended for us! We are still learning the same memory verse which is:
” Give praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In His great mercy He has given us a new birth and a hope that is alive. It is alive because Jesus Christ rose from the dead.” 1 Peter 1:3
In case your still wondering what the heck the balloon animals have to do with all of this, in our small groups we used this as our closing analogy to remind the children that they are never alone. We gave each child a deflated balloon and talked about the uselessness of a balloon without air. We encouraged each child to blow up their balloons because when the balloon is full of air it has the power to be very useful and fulfill its purpose, this is next to impossible without a pump. Then our leaders using a pump inflated a balloon for each child and discussed how we are just like these balloons without the Holy Spirit we are useless but with the Holy Spirit we have a power to fulfill God’s purpose for our lives. With the Holy Spirit we have the power to do BIG things for a BIG God!
This week encourage your kids to do BIG things for our God! Review and practice our memory verse for the week to remind them that we are able to do big things for our God because of the hope that we have that is alive!
Don’t forget we are still taking offering to raise money to buy our GOAT to send to a family in need in Asia! This will allow them to have fresh milk daily and be able to make not only cheese but many other foods that give much needed nourishment to their family! We are raising this money for our Goat to go through the organization Gospel for Asia!
