In this first message in the teaching series, #awkward – a closer look at some of Jesus’ tough teachings, Pastor Brandon Cox dives into the meaning behind Jesus’ words in Matthew 5:48 in which He said to His disciples, “Be perfect, even as your Father in heaven is perfect.” Does God really expect perfection from us? Yes! But we need to understand several big truths before that standard makes any sense. First, God demands perfection because God Himself is perfect. Second, God is well aware that we all fall short of His glorious standard. And third, in love He offers the gracious gift of forgiveness and redemption for imperfect people.
