God is always up to something. He is always at work in, around, and through you. That’s the first big reality we’re talking about in The God Experience. And for many people, it’s an enormous faith hurdle to overcome – to trust, to believe, to affirm and acknowledge that a powerful, sovereign Creator is over and above all, and in charge of all, and that he has our best interests in mind.
But there are two significant sources of evidence proving that God is and always has been at work.
Creation
The Bible says, in Psalm 19:1, “The heavens proclaim the glory of God. The skies display his craftsmanship.” (NLT) Every time you look to the sky, behold the stars, and wonder at the vastness of the created universe, you are confronted with the opportunity to marvel over the goodness and power of God.
Creation shows us that what God created is good, is orderly, is beautiful, and is amazingly sustainable. Nature is a powerful reminder that God is creative and that his craftsmanship shows us some pretty significant truth about him.
RE-creation
Creation shows us some amazing, general truth about the Creator. But he comes closer. He gets involved in our personal messes, redeeming, re-shaping, and re-creating us into the likeness of his Son, Jesus, as we yield to him and trust his faithfulness. Paul wrote to the Ephesians, “For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.” (2:10 NLT)
In other words, when you see the lives of people who have been changed, from the inside out, by the renovating power of the gospel, you are viewing his redemptive power on display. And when God works in your life, you are experiencing, first hand, the evidence of the reality of God.
