On January 19, we’re launching a second weekend worship service! Starting that Sunday, we will offer two worship times (identical services) of 9:00 and 10:30. We’re doing this for several reasons…
- To make room for more people, especially kids. Our main adult service is “comfortably” full, but our kids’ rooms are sometimes packed. One Sunday, we had 14 babies in our nursery! We want to make room for everyone.
- To reach new people. History proves that launching a second service pretty much always reaches people a church wasn’t reaching previously, and we’ll do anything short of sin to reach people far from God. So, whatever it takes!
- To grow larger and smaller at the same time. We want to grow by reaching more people and introducing them to Jesus. We also want to find ways of being smaller and creating intimate atmospheres. This is just one way of spreading out.
- To keep kids’ class sizes smaller. We believe life change happens more readily when there is more personal attention between volunteers and kids.
- To allow volunteers to ‘worship one, serve one.’ That is, volunteers can serve in some capacity in one service and still participate in the corporate worship experience.
- Because we value growth over comfort. We want people to get to know other people in small groups, but we’ve never valued knowing everyone, which isn’t a practical possibility anyway.
- Because we’re fast, fluid, and flexible, and we embrace the pain of change for the win of seeing more people meeting Jesus. In other words, we’re not afraid to try things, to make mistakes, and to try them again in different ways.
