God has already been at work in the early life of Grace Hills in ways we didn’t expect. I keep hearing people talk about their experience of coming to Grace Hills as a journey toward discovering a place where they can be real – real in worship, real with problems, and real with people. That’s thrilling to me! But there’s a side effect to drawing many people in a short period of time… the opportunity to serve people is sometimes bigger than our capacity to meet the need in terms of volunteers and resources. Therefore, I want to challenge you to consider getting involved.
We have a big opportunity right now to serve kids, but we need quite a few more volunteers to give a Sunday per month to hanging out with kiddo’s, either in the elementary worship, the preschool area, or the nursery. If you’ve been coming for a while and have kids in these ministries, I especially want to encourage you to serve occassionally as a helper because you know how great it is to have someone lovingly serve your kids. If you are ready to jump in, run to our get involved page and let us know how you’d like to serve.
I also want to challenge those of you who consider Grace Hills your church home to consider yourselves honorary members of our greeting and hospitality ministry, whether you’re officially signed up or not. The New Testament talks a lot about hospitality as a ministry, so I want to encourage you to devote the few minutes before and after worship services to seeking out people you don’t know yet and seeing how you can guide them, befriend them, or meet a need in some way.
Another opportunity in the way of a big event is our upcoming community-wide Easter egg hunt at Grace Hill Elementary School on Saturday, April 7 from 11:00 to 1:00. We have a few rather large needs here: 1. We need 5,000 stuffed plastic eggs, so if you can, bring some stuffed eggs, or empty plastic eggs, or small candy to any Grace Hills service. 2. We need Grace Hills’ families to “host” the Rogers community at the hunt, so show up that Saturday ready to help organize people, feed people, and hide eggs.
And lastly, invite someone to Grace Hills on Easter Sunday! We’ll be in a new message series entitled Alive to Thrive, so go “like” this page, email a friend, and take a stack of invite postcards with you on Sunday to distribute.
I love the energy, the vitality, the warmth and acceptance of this new church family. You guys rock! Angie and I love you and we can’t wait to worship with you on Sunday!
Sincerely,
Pastor Brandon
