This past Sunday we had the privilege of celebrating Baptism. It is always such a joyful time at Grace Hills getting to join together and celebrate with our family. This Sunday, it was sweet Cayden’s turn, she was so FULL of excitement and joy. She is a beautiful example of completely trusting God with her life and excitement for what God holds for her future! I cannot wait to see what God does through Cayden and she continues to grow in her relationship with God.
This week we were studying the idea of “Death Defying” in our Kids room. How our lives are affected because we know that Jesus once lived as a historic person on this earth yet then he died, BUT he rose again! We want to learn to apply simple ways we can choose to honor God in our everyday lives for these 1-6 graders. While in the process of this lesson I had the privilege of being mummified as our object lesson. The children took turns by teams wrapping me in toilet paper, this was a pretty scary thing for me. We would love for you to take some time this week and reinforce this idea of practicing our simple choices to honor God everyday. Some things that we talked about are forgiving (a friend, a sibling, a parent, a teacher), spending time reading our Bible and praying, choosing to love others!
This week in preschool, well, we had a CRAZY week! Our preschool ministry is growing by leaps and bounds and these kids love to have fun, one of there favorite activities of the day was singing. We are traveling through a safari with these little ones and we get to meet a new animal every week. For this section our Bible verse is
“Open my eyes so that I can see all the wonderful things in your teachings.” Psalms 119:18
Of course we have to use motions to help us learn these though, the motions to this verse go as follows:
Open my eyes – hands open wide beside eyes
so that I can see – make binoculars with hands
all the wonderful things – two thumbs up
in your teaching – make a book with your hands
Psalms 119:18
The other thing that is so beautiful to see with our preschoolers in prayer time. This is a time that we calm down and we sit in a circle on our rug and we talk about what we can pray for. This week, because we were learning about the Bible and how it helps us, we wanted to thank God for giving us the Bible. It never fails that ALL of these kiddos want to pray, of course we always say yes. We take turns going around the circle allowing every child to stand and pray aloud for our group! I promise you will never experience a sweeter moment then listening to these prayers. We may be growing faster then we can handle but these children are blessed by our wonderful volunteers who pour love into them weekly. Parents this week with your preschoolers practice our memory verse!
Thank you to our volunteer for leading this week Michael & Michelle Lee and Clayton Chapuis! You are a blessing to these children and we couldn’t do it without you!
