Sunday mornings are always a crazy good time for church plants. We have amazing volunteers that come in really early and set up all of our rooms, it is such a blessing! We run around like crazy preparing for you and your children, church planting is one of the most challenging and rewarding experiences and Grace Hills is a beautiful example of this!
Our nursery has grown by leaps and bounds recently, we are so HAPPY about this! Our volunteers love getting to hang out with the babies on Sundays! We have lots of newborns, crawlers, and toddlers right now; what a blessings this is for us as a church!
In our preschool room this Sunday our kids were led by Jamie and Jennifer! You can be confident that your kids had fun in this room, but more importantly that they heard God’s word. After practicing the memory verse, they each got a turn to stand up in front of the class and say the memory verse! These kids are so smart, they know their verse and they wanted to share with the class! Next week we will begin a new section and get a new memory verse but we would love for you to practice our verse with your kids this week. They will be given the opportunity next Sunday to share again if they remember, and get to pick from the huge sticker bag if they remember it! This week’s verse is:
“Open my eyes so I can see all the wonderful things in your teachings.” Psalms 119:18
Here are the motions to go along with the verse:
- Open my eyes: hands open around eyes
- So that I can see: make binoculars with hands
- all the wonderful things: two thumbs up
- in your teachings: make a book with your hands
In our Kid’s Zone this week we talked about being Wiped Out, aka about forgiveness. Every child got a chance to try and pick up a really heavy bag that we had filled with weights, representing the weight of the grudges and grief we carry. Some were even challenge to try and do activities while caring around this heavy bag, simple daily task like tying their shoes. It was hard, even for those big strong boys. We know that God has forgiven us but we must also forgive others just as God forgave us. When we don’t forgive others who wrong us it weighs us down. Sometimes we don’t even realize that we are being weighed down. God forgave us first, and we need to forgive others! This week we encourage you to discuss forgiveness with your children. Our memory verse for this week is:
“Give praise to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ. In his great mercy he has given us new birth and a hope that is alive. It is alive because Jesus Christ rose from the dead.” I Peter 1:3
In our kids zone we like to be crazy and we love to have fun, but we want to invest in your children’s lives and in their future. A huge way that we do this is through the small groups that we break into after our large group lesson. We do small groups based on age so that we can relate to your child specifically where they are at. Small group time allows us to truly invest, we want your children to grow and to learn every Sunday. We also want them to feel comfortable asking questions and to be able to get to know their leaders.
Speaking of leaders, if you are looking for a place to use your God given gifts and talents and want to love on some children, we can always plug in new volunteers!
To all of our volunteers this week thank you for serving we could not have done it without you! You bless the lives of the children and we hope that we are a blessing to you as well! We look forward to the next week and seeing all of these lovely children again!
